Muhammad Manar, the Egyptian civil aviation minister, revealed details yesterday regarding the Egyptian airports development plan for the coming years.

Manar said during his speech at an economic conference that the ministry aims to expand Sharm el-Sheikh airport so that it can handle 9 million passengers annually instead of the current 7 million passengers.

The Egyptian minister noted that Burg al-Arab airport will be expanded to handle 5.5 million passengers a year and will become an environmentally friendly airport. At the same time, the “Sphinx” airport will be expanded to an area of ​​36,000 square meters, so that it can handle 1.2 million passengers a year. This airport is scheduled to open next month.

The Minister also mentioned the development of Luxor Airport and the absorption of a number of new aircraft for the Egyptian Air Force. The minister also revealed that there is a plan to convert the buses operating at the airports to electric buses.
