The EisArena Hamburg is making ice skating accessible to families facing financial hardship, offering free admission to 5,000 children this season.
With the cost of living on the rise, a simple afternoon of fun can feel out of reach for many families. But the EisArena Hamburg is working to change that, announcing on Tuesday a program to provide free ice skating access to 5,000 children during the current season.
Why is the EisArena offering free skating?
“Ice skating shouldn’t be a luxury,” explained Jens Eickmeier, managing director of the EisArena. He emphasized the importance of exercise, community, and a carefree experience, particularly for young people.
The initiative aims to ensure that financial constraints don’t prevent children from enjoying the benefits of physical activity and social interaction.
The EisArena Hamburg, located in the Große Wallanlagen, hopes this initiative will allow more children to experience the joy of ice skating this season. The program is a direct response to the increasing financial pressures faced by families, making a beloved winter activity accessible to a wider range of children.
