At the end of 2023, the Security Cabinet assured that El Salvador is the safest country in Latin America, under the Territorial Control Plan and the Exception Regime, which have been fundamental in leaving behind the failed State inherited from previous governments. , declared Security Minister Gustavo Villatoro.

The results are based on the successful actions that have left 518 days without homicides in the Bukele Administration, unlike the three previous five-year periods that only recorded two days without murders. Furthermore, since the emergency regime came into effect there have been 405 days without violent deaths.

According to official reports, the year 2023 closed with 154 murders, of which 146 have been solved by the authorities, a record figure that reflects an effectiveness of 94.8% in this type of cases that in the past went unpunished. Villatoro was pleased that the State now has control of the territory and promises that as a Cabinet they will fight against any criminal organization that wants to usurp functions that do not correspond to them.

In the past, terrorist groups had a parallel government, leaving aside the rights of honest citizens, he claimed.
