Multiple Collision on Highway to El salvador Injures 13, Causes Partial Closure

A major traffic incident involving a bus, a trailer, and multiple private vehicles resulted in 13 injuries and a partial closure of the highway to El Salvador on Monday, December 15th. the collision occurred at kilometer 15.5, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Details of the Accident
According to a video shared by the mayor of Santa Catarina Pinula, Sebastián Siero, the incident unfolded when a trailer unexpectedly entered the roadway. A bus, attempting to avoid a collision with the trailer, veered into oncoming traffic, leading to a multi-vehicle pileup.
Volunteer Firefighters from the Central Station, as well as companies 10 and 69, were dispatched to the scene to provide immediate medical attention. They administered pre-hospital care to numerous injured individuals and transported 10 patients to various healthcare facilities.
Patient Information
Among those injured was a child under the age of three. Adults with a range of injuries were also transported to the San Juan de Dios General hospital. One individual was taken to the IGSS after sustaining trauma. The following individuals were confirmed as patients at San Juan de Dios General Hospital:
- A child under 3 years old, admitted to the Pediatrics unit.
- Brayan samuel Solares Ramírez, 25 years old.
- Josimar esquivel, 30 years old.
- Floridalma Hernández, 36 years old.
- nora Judith Pérez, 51 years old.
- Jakelin Andrea Paredes, 29 years old.
- Marta Sosa, 22 years old.
- Tania Cruz, 18 years old.
- Mario García, 28 years old.
Fredy Cifuentes, 33 years old, was transported to the IGSS with trauma.
In addition to those transported by Volunteer Firefighters, Municipal Firefighters evaluated three more individuals at the scene, treating them for minor injuries and emotional distress, including a reported nervous breakdown.
Road Clearance and Ongoing Updates
The Municipal traffic Police of Santa Catarina Pinula confirmed that the vehicles involved in the accident have been removed from the roadway, restoring partial traffic flow. The total number of injured individuals is confirmed at 13 – 10 treated by Volunteer Firefighters and 3 by Municipal Firefighters.
