Today Friday (April 19) the election of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association is going to be held. Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) polling will continue from 9 am to 5 pm today.
A total of 48 candidates from 2 panels, including 6 independents, are competing in this election to get a place in the 21-member committee. One of the two panels features actors Misha Saudagar and Manowar Hossain Dipjal, while the other features Golden Days hero Mahmud Koli and actress Nipun Akhter.
Masum Parvez Rubel and DA Taib will fight for the post of vice-president in the Misha-Dipzal Parishad. Apart from this, Arman is the deputy general secretary, Joy Chowdhury is the organizing secretary, Alexander Bo is the international affairs secretary, Jackie Alamgir is the office and publicity secretary, Don is the culture and sports secretary and Kamal is the treasurer candidate.
Also, actresses Sucharita, Rozina, Aliraj, Subrata, Dilara Yasmin, Shahnoor, Nana Shah, Ratna Kabir, Chunnu, Sanju John, Feroz Mia are also running for the post of executive council members.
On the other hand, Mahmud Koli has been the candidate of the expert panel – Danny Sidak and Amit Hasan for the post of Vice President. Joint General Secretary Bappi Saha, Organizing Secretary Anjana Rahman, International Affairs Secretary Maruf Aqib, Office and Publicity Secretary Kabila, Culture and Sports Secretary Mamnoon Hasan Imon and actor Azad Khan as Treasurer.
Sujata Azim, Nader Chowdhury, Pirzada Haroon, Poly, Jasmine Akhter, Tanveer Tanu, Md. Saiful, Sadia Mirza, Soni Rahman, Helena Jahangir and Saif Khan are the members of the executive council.
Khorshed Alam Khosru will be the chief election commissioner in this election. AJ Rana and BH Nishan are members. The total number of voters is 571. They will choose the leaders-guardians of film artists for the next two years.
The Election Commission has already completed all the preparations for the election of 2024-26 term. This is the first time that there will be a mobile court in the selection of artists.
Chief Election Commissioner Khosru said, ‘This time there are 571 voters. Efforts will be made to ensure that there is no trouble in the election. We will ensure fair and impartial elections. I am also taking care that no influence of the last time should fall on this election.’
