The Ministry of Electricity announced today, Tuesday, the launch of a campaign to modernize, rehabilitate and improve the performance of distribution networks and ensure the stability of supply in preparation for the coming summer and to ensure the stability of supply, while confirming the continuation of street lighting projects and main and circular roads.

The ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Musa, said in a statement to the (INA): “The Minister of Electricity has ordered the launch of a campaign to light the streets, main and circular roads, and city entrances based on the Prime Minister’s directives,” noting that “the ministry’s formations have begun working on lighting the circular and express roads, and there is cooperation with the municipal departments and the Baghdad Municipality to resolve conflicts to prepare sources of power for lighting projects.”

He added, “The ministry has projects independent of Baghdad Governorate projects through which it works to light the main roads and streets, in harmony with the campaign to relieve congestion and build new bridges.”

He pointed out that “the Council of Ministers authorized the Ministry of Electricity to purchase 78 stations, 60 of which are fixed secondary stations and 18 are mobile,” indicating that “the ministry also launched a broad campaign to modernize, rehabilitate and improve the performance of distribution networks.”

He added, “This campaign comes in preparation for next summer after identifying a number of problems during the current year, as installing these stations will contribute to addressing bottlenecks and achieving stability in supply.”
