A teenage boy was hospitalized Monday afternoon after an altercation involving a weapon at Ellenbrook Secondary College in Western Australia. Authorities swiftly responded to the incident, initiating a temporary lockdown of the school as a precautionary measure.
Parents received notification that the college was placed in lockdown “to address an issue on campus,” according to a message from school officials. The incident occurred after the dismissal of students for the day, meaning not all pupils were present during the event.
Initial Emergency Response
St John WA paramedics were initially dispatched with four ambulances to the school shortly after 3 p.m. local time on Monday, responding to reports of injuries. However, three of the ambulances were subsequently stood down, indicating the situation was stabilized. One teenage boy was transported to St John of God Midland hospital under standard traffic conditions.
A spokesperson for St John WA confirmed the response but offered no further details regarding the patient’s condition, citing patient privacy.
Police Investigation Underway
Local police also attended the scene following a report of an altercation between a group of young people at the school. According to a police spokesperson, one individual received treatment for minor injuries.
“Several teenagers are currently assisting police with inquiries,” the spokesperson stated. Officers maintained a visible presence on the campus and in the surrounding areas throughout Monday afternoon to ensure public safety and facilitate the ongoing investigation.
