Embarrassing mistake: the politician from Yisrael Beitenu discovered that he was singing without a portfolio

by time news

After a year and a half in office, Hamed Amar of the Yisrael Beitenu party revealed today in a hearing in the Knesset that the law that was supposed to qualify him as a minister in the Ministry of Finance was not passed at all and he was basically a “minister without a portfolio” all this time.

Amar, as I recall, was appointed with the establishment of the Bennett Lapid government as a minister in the Ministry of Finance under his party’s chairman, minister Avigdor Lieberman, but only today he discovered that the law that would allow him to be a minister in the office of a sitting minister was not actually enacted, an amendment that was actually enacted these days but for Smotrich.

Member of Knesset Simcha Rothman, who was present at the hearing, said following the incident: “While we are checking every section of the law and working day and night to get the government sworn in the way of the king and the law, the members of the future opposition are preaching morals to us instead of checking themselves.”
