If it’s raining sideways, are you caught in the hamster wheel, or do you just miss Christmas – as it was in childhood? Here is some of what will be available on NRK in December that hopefully can definitely help you relax and look forward to Christmas.
Recipe for Christmas spirit:
Follow a Christmas calendar (or several)
All NRK’s Christmas calendars are available on NRK TV, so every generation can find their favorite, whether it is Christmas in Blue Mountain or The Christmas King.
This year’s new calendars are the third season of 24 Star Christmas Calendar,<a href="https://tv.nrk
A much newer tradition than the calendars is Christmas Spirit with Live and Ronn. This popular christmas podcast has become a “constant companion” for many throughout the Advent season.
Nitimen features both Christmas Party with the Broadcasting Orchestra (December 18) and a Christmas workshop throughout December.

NRK Super Christmas plays Christmas music for the whole family, and on NRK Classic Christmas, you can listen to beautiful classical Christmas pieces.
On TV,you can catch concerts ranging from the Broadcasting Orchestra and Kajsa Balto to a Christmas hit parade with Mariah Carey.
Follow traditions (“same procedure every year”)
This year, it will indeed be the Night Before Christmas Eve, of course with The Countess and the Butler around 9 PM. NRK dares not do or else. Marte Stokstad and Kåre Magnus Bergh are the hosts for the broadcast, which is among NRK’s most watched programs.
A lovely Christmas morning
On December 24th, many have their own “TV liturgy”: Some MUST watch the beautiful Cinderella or the cozy atmosphere in the Disney cavalcade.
But have you discovered The Christmas Time of the Snow Children? It is a collection of magical Christmas tales from the North, featuring familiar characters like solan and Ludvig and the Moomins, as well as Icelandic Stiff Leg and his twelve brothers and more.

Programs to enjoy
Life far from the beaten path
Some NRK programs are not actually christmas shows but have still become a Christmas or pre-Christmas tradition. One example is the series Where No One Would Believe Anything Could Live. Now six new episodes of this beloved series are out.
No Christmas break without chess!
Magnus Carlsen is the reigning world champion ahead of this year’s World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships. This time the championship will be held in New York. NRK will broadcast all the drama live from December 26 to 31,
Journalism you didn’t know you wanted
During the Christmas break, the new program The A-team will also premiere, where unconventional journalists interview the biggest names in Norwegian public life. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre is the first to go. He will have to answer questions, including whether he has bathed in money. The questions might potentially be surprising, unpredictable, sometimes funny,or touching, but always fully sincere and without ulterior motives. This changes something for the one being interviewed: The mask falls.
The Nerdrum Family
This documentary series provides a rare opportunity to get to know one of Norway’s most engaging and controversial artists. The Norwegian artist Odd nerdrum opens the doors to life on the farm outside Stavern, where he lives with his wife, adult children, and his personally selected students.
A unique life
Those who enjoy podcasts can look forward to Prix Europa winner Joakim Førsund’s portrait of Liv Ullmann. In Real-life Stories: Liv,he gets close to Ullmann’s life and work.
