Emilio Lora-Tamayo, president of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) between 2003-2004 and 2012-2017, has died at the age of 74, as reported by the scientific institution.

Emilio Lora-Tamayo, who was appointed last October honorary life rector of the Camilo Jos Cela University, he had a doctorate in Physical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, and obtained the Diplme d’tudes Approfondies at the Universit Paul Sabatier, in Toulouse. He has also served as Professor of Electronics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and researcher guest at UC Berkeley. Lora-Tamayo was also honorary life rector of the Menndez Pelayo International University (UIMP).
