Kim Delaney Faces Scrutiny in 2022 Hit-and-Run, New Witness Account Details Alleged Intoxication
A new witness account has surfaced alleging Kim Delaney, the Emmy-winning actress known for her role in NYPD Blue, exhibited signs of intoxication following a 2022 car accident that is now the subject of a civil lawsuit.
According to reports from Us Weekly, the incident has resurfaced with troubling details as the case progresses toward trial. The actress is now a central figure in the legal proceedings stemming from the alleged hit-and-run.
In 2022,Delaney reportedly collided with a motorcycle operated by Dzhamal Badalov.Badalov afterward filed a lawsuit seeking damages for his injuries and property loss. While Delaney initially denied all allegations, she was permitted to enter a diversion program through the Los Angeles Attorney’s Office, requiring her to complete community service and a DUI class.
The lawsuit recently gained new momentum with the submission of eyewitness accounts by Badalov, painting a potentially damaging picture of the events following the crash.
Ashlee Cartznes,a witness to the incident, stated she and her boyfriend,Jonathan De Jesus, were driving when they observed a black Mercedes approaching them at a high rate of speed. “When the black Mercedes quickly approached us, I thought it was going to hit us,” Cartznes recalled. “So I promptly switched to another lane to avoid getting rear-ended.”
Cartznes described the Mercedes’ driving as “erratic” and noted the vehicle was “without staying in the street lanes.” She witnessed the Mercedes driver “slam her brakes” while approaching Badalov’s motorcycle, ultimately colliding with the rear of the bike and throwing the motorcyclist from his vehicle.
Following the collision, Cartznes observed the driver of the Mercedes taking an extended period to exit the vehicle. Once she did, the witness alleges the driver appeared substantially impaired.”Her eyes were all over the place,” Cartznes recounted. “Her balance looked unsteady, and she was slurring while attempting to speak.”
Adding to the concerning details, Cartznes stated the driver appeared to be barefoot. A subsequent phone call between the driver and her husband reportedly yielded an unusual directive. “The woman’s husband told her that she needed to get into the car and drive away,” Cartznes revealed.
The driver then allegedly re-entered the vehicle.
Delaney has consistently denied any wrongdoing, asserting that third parties were responsible for any injuries sustained. The trial is currently scheduled for early January 2026, where these new witness accounts are expected to play a pivotal role in the proceedings.
