Complicity, return to the essence and even mysticism and introspection are words that could well serve to describe the works created especially by the fourteenth edition of Empordoneses, which opens its doors this Wednesday at 7 p.m., at Sala Escorxador de Figueres. Pilar Farrés, artist, curator and soul of this collective exhibition, has trusted the motto that less is more and has offered this “loudspeaker to speak with a clear voice” to eleven creators who, in turn, have been looking for a partner with whom to dialogue and “mediate”, as described by the Councilor for Culture, Mariona Seguranyes, during the presentation last week.
The result, fruit ofabsolute thematic freedomtranslates to eleven newly created eclectic, fresh and refined installations that arise as a result of personal experiences and that become a mirror of the anxieties that grip current society or conceptual issues linked to human existence such as pain, dignity or the joy of living.
The director of the Empordà Museum, Eduard Bech, recognized that what is of interest in this edition is not so much the content but “the creation” and, above all, to do it “together with another person”.
Already the same title of the exhibition, Alternative dialogues. Say…take the floor! evoke this one dualism, ambiguity and double meaning which ultimately leads to “making people think”, assured Farrés.
Empordoneses will also havea catalog that will make it last and that will include texts in which five experts reflect on different aspects, such as the art of thinking from being a woman. Alternative activities will also be promoted, such as a guided tour with creative couples.
At the entrance to the room, a map of the space with the title of each imagined work, some precise words that define them and that, as Farrés admitted, demonstrate “the importance of words”.
