The BEN indicated that the highest number of cases corresponds to the Center region (62.2 percent), followed by the Northwest region (21.2 percent) and Northeast (14.3 percent), while the West and South have the smallest number and together they contribute the equivalent of 2.3 percent in the country.

The BEN added that from SE31/23 to SE17/24, 301 deaths from dengue were also recorded, of which 291 correspond to 2024.

The median age of the deceased is 49 years, with fatalities in 18 of the country’s 24 jurisdictions.

“The deceased cases were recorded in all age groups, with the highest mortality rate being those over 80 years of age,” indicated the BEN, which added that the most frequent signs and symptoms among the deceased with complete clinical information were “fever, headache, myalgias and arthralgias, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain.

The Ministry of Health has urged the population to reinforce care to prevent diseases transmitted by mosquitoes “Temples of the Egyptians“.

These measures include eliminating possible mosquito breeding sites, avoiding bites with the use of repellents, and consulting if symptoms of the disease occur.
