Cuts, restrictions, shortages… It had been perhaps forty years (first oil shock), or even seventy-five (immediately after the war), that these words had not reappeared in our daily lives. The “antigaspi” is back.
A short-term reason for this situation: the war in Ukraine, which has serious consequences for gas supplies in Europe. More deeply, thinking about the future and the planet’s energy resources is changing behaviors.
Even the city lights are asked to go out
All of this is a serious setback to this whirlwind of abundance and carelessness that prophets of happiness had thought would be eternal. The party is over. Administrations, industries, individuals, today is the time for “sobriety”. Even the city lights are asked to go out… We need to reduce our energy consumption as quickly as possible by 10% to 40% in 2050.
It’s a revolution.
The last generations were fed with milk from these two breasts of Western society…
