Eric Bauza, the Emmy Award-winning voice actor who brought modern life to Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and dozens of other animated characters, died suddenly on Sunday at his home in Los Angeles County at the age of 46 from hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
His family announced his passing through an Instagram post on Sunday, October 25, stating that further details would be shared later. Records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner subsequently confirmed the cause of death as natural, stemming from hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
Voicing the Warner Bros. Cartoon Legacy
Born on December 7, 1979, the Toronto native established himself as a versatile voice talent. Within the Looney Tunes universe, he voiced Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety Bird, Marvin the Martian, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, and Road Runner. His work on the franchise began in 2011 as Marvin the Martian before he expanded to voice several other characters across the catalog. He also played the part of Toad General in 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie and its sequel The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the fifth highest-grossing film internationally this year.
Discussing his craft in August, he reflected on the weight of history behind the microphone.
All of my work is based off of the original voiceover artist, the great Mel Blanc; he was the original. I like to call him the blueprint of these characters. They’re not just voices; these are personalities that we’ve been familiar with now for 90 years — it’s like your oldest family members. So, that’s my history with them.

Channing Dungey, chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group and U.S. Networks noted that he considered continuing that legacy among the greatest honors of his life. During his 15 years with the studio, he also appeared in hybrid projects like Space Jam: A New Legacy alongside basketball star LeBron James.
Voice Roles Lead to Multiple Emmy Awards
His resume included roles in Teen Titans Go!, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, Muppet Babies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Puss in Boots, Woody Woodpecker, and Bob’s Burgers. He also voiced Woody Woodpecker in Universal’s animated film and lent his talents to features like The Book of Life and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.

He won Children’s and Family Emmy Awards for Outstanding Voice Performance in 2022, 2023, and 2025, and received a nomination in 2026, following five Daytime Emmy nominations between 2016 and 2021.
Industry Leaders Mourn the Loss of Eric Bauza
Earlier in the year, he had a dozen credits in Coyote vs. Acme, the Looney Tunes feature distributed by Ketchup Entertainment after a turbulent release journey.
Coppage stated that watching him climb to become one of animation’s most accomplished voices was thrilling, calling his sudden passing a profound loss for the industry.
