He believes that “historic efforts” have been made by the executive to push parliamentarians to vote on the justice budget. “Justice has never been so well endowed in the budget, if you want to increase the means of justice, vote for this budget”, proclaimed this Thursday the Keeper of the Seals Eric Dupond-Moretti to the parliamentarians.

“Strengthening the means of justice is my absolute priority”, he further argued, stressing that the means allocated were planned to increase by 8% in 2023, for the third consecutive year. This is a “historic effort, never seen under the Fifth Republic”, he insisted during the first reading in the National Assembly of the budget for 2023.

New creations of places in prison

The 2023 finance bill (PLF) provides in particular for the creation of 2,253 positions in 2023 and a revaluation of judicial magistrates by 1,000 euros gross per month. New creations of prison places are also planned to pursue the objective of a plan to create 15,000 places by 2027, in particular via new prison establishments.
