Erode East Constituency By-Election – Voting Begins

A total of 77 candidates are in the fray in the Erode East by-election. DMK EVKS Elangovan of the Congress party and ADMK are in the alliance. On behalf of KS Thenarasu, DMDK. Candidates from political parties including S. Anand, Maneka Navaneethan from Naam Tamilar Party and independent candidates engaged in vigorous campaigning.

A total of 2 lakh 27 thousand 547 voters are going to vote in this election including 1 lakh 11 thousand 25 males, 1 lakh 16 thousand 497 females and 25 transgenders. In this regard, 238 polling stations have been set up in 52 places. There are 1,206 officers working on election duty. 32 disturbed polling stations have been identified. Paramilitary personnel are engaged in patrolling there. Also, web cameras are installed and monitored from the control room.

In this case, polling for Erode East constituency started today at 7 am. People are queuing up to cast their votes. Voting started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.

After the election, all the voting machines will be safely brought to the counting center Chithod Government Engineering College today. Votes will be counted there on March 2.

Earlier, sample polling was conducted in the presence of agents. After that the electronic machines were fixed again and polling started at 7 am.
