Essaouira: international experts examine the challenges of AI in the service of cybersecurity

Initiated by the National School of Applied Sciences (ENSA) of Marrakech, in partnership with the École Supérieure de Technologie (EST) of Essaouira, this three-day international conclave aims to deepen the understanding of the threats weighing on computer security and to promote exchanges between Moroccan universities, businesses, decision-makers and researchers.

This scientific meeting, marked by the presence of the Advisor to His Majesty the King and founding President of the Essaouira-Mogador Association, Mr. André Azoulay, the President of the Municipal Council of Essaouira, Tarik Ottmani, the President of Cadi University Ayyad (UCA) from Marrakech, Belaïd Bougadir, as well as other personalities from various spheres, also intends to create a space conducive to collaboration and innovation in the field of cybersecurity, thus promoting the development of advanced technological solutions for counter growing digital threats.

In an opening speech, Mr. Azoulay welcomed Morocco’s significant progress in the field of cybersecurity, highlighting the Kingdom’s continued commitment to strengthening its capabilities in this strategic area.

“We are witnesses to the global digital transition that is taking shape, and Morocco, with its skills and determination, is already playing a leading role in many sectors of new technologies, both on the African continent and on the international scene. “, he noted, emphasizing the importance of addressing the challenges posed by the digital revolution seriously and professionally.

“I am firmly convinced that the regulation and supervision of these technologies are imperative to maintain our social balance, guarantee our security and protect our sovereignty,” assured Mr. Azoulay.

Recalling that the city of Essaouira will host throughout this week a series of renowned international conferences, as well as other major events, Mr. Azoulay did not fail to highlight the commitment of the City des Alizés towards the promotion of scientific research and innovation.

For his part, Mr. Bougadir highlighted UCA’s commitment to positioning itself as a leader in the field of AI, both through its training and its research, in order to train future leaders capable of ensure this digital transition and meet current and future technological challenges.

“Cybersecurity and AI play a central role in protecting sensitive data, preventing cyberattacks and maintaining national sovereignty in cyberspace,” he noted, calling for strengthening research initiatives and training in these areas across all regions of the Kingdom.

In a statement to the press, Mr. Bougadir also pleaded in favor of close collaboration between Moroccan universities, the private sector and the international community in order to promote innovation, encourage collaborative research and promote the transfer of knowledge and technologies.

For his part, the acting director of ENSA in Marrakech, Hassan Ayad, indicated that the ultimate objective of this scientific meeting is to conduct in-depth reflection with a view to formulating recommendations aimed at strengthening the resilience of digital infrastructures and to preserve data integrity against cyber attacks.

“The preservation of our cybersecurity constitutes an issue of prime importance for Morocco. Consequently, we are resolutely committed to designing innovative solutions, anchored in Moroccan expertise and creativity, with a view to consolidating our online protection,” he said. -he affirmed.

Subsequently, the audience followed lectures and panel discussions that took place throughout the day, covering a wide range of topics related to AI, cybersecurity and other related areas.

Furthermore, this meeting was punctuated by the signing of a series of partnership agreements between various stakeholders, aimed at establishing technical laboratories and joint research projects, while facilitating student mobility on a global scale.

The program of this scientific event which takes place in Essaouira and Marrakech until April 6 includes conferences, round tables, workshops and various interactive activities, thus providing a favorable framework for the exchange of ideas and the collaboration between specialists, the aim being to reach conclusions promoting synergy and the advancement of knowledge in the areas covered.
