European data indicated that the European Union imported the largest amount of Russian liquefied gas in July since last February, worth 565.7 million euros.
Russian gas imports to the EU increased by 13.5% in July, both monthly and yearly. The main buyer of Russian gas is Spain, whose imports increased by 2.3 times in a month to 240.8 million euros, while the Netherlands increased its imports by 25% to 57.2 million euros.
France, the second-largest importer of Russian LNG, cut its imports in July by 11% to €210.4 million, while Belgium cut its imports to $47.7 million.
The European Union imported liquefied gas from Russia worth 4 billion euros during the first 7 months of this year, compared to 5.5 billion euros for the same period last year.
Despite the decline in supplies from Russia, the share of Russian companies in the European gas market rose to 18.6% from 13.3%, due to a halving of EU imports from other sources.
