The European Youth Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling U-23 continues in Baku.
Based on İdman.biz, on the second day of the competitors, winners in 5 weight classes had been decided.
4 of our athletes competed for medals. Two of them competed within the finals, two in bronze medal matches.
Our staff completed the day with 2 gold and a pair of bronze medals. Ziya Babashov and Khasai Hasanli gained and have become European champions, and Rashad Mamedov and Lachin Veliyev gained bronze.

Within the closing, Ziya Babashov met with Vitaly Eremenko (Moldova). The extraordinary match ended with the victory of our wrestler with a rating of three:2. Thus, Babashov gained the European champion title.

Within the struggle for the gold medal, Hasay Hasanli met with the Turkish athlete Yuksel Saricicek. He didn’t give his opponent an opportunity (10:1) and completed the European Championship with a gold medal.

Rashad Mamedov fought with Ivan Stefansky (Ukraine) within the struggle for the bronze medal. Our “traditional”, successful with a rating of seven:0, completed the European Championship in third place.

Within the repechage match, Lachin Veliyev met with Patrick Gorda (Romania). Our athlete gained with a rating of 4:3 and took half within the battle for the bronze medal, the place he defeated Ilya Myaleshi (AIN) (3:1) and have become third in Europe.
