BOLZANO. “Sport is the opposite of violence. In Bolzano we have always cheered and celebrated, but it is unacceptable that this is used by some to cause damage ». The mayor of Bolzano said so Renzo Caramaschi in reference to the clashes on Saturday night in the South Tyrolean capital.

In view of the match of Italy against Belgium, scheduled for Friday 2 July, the mayor issued an ordinance that provides for a ban on parking in Piazza Vittoria and Corso Libertà, as well as a ban on the sale of glass bottles and the administration of alcohol from 8 pm onwards.

Caramaschi hoped for another victory for the Azzurri and joyful parties and carousels without moments of violence. Deputy Mayor Luis Walcher added that “it is intolerable that policemen are injured during these celebrations, as unfortunately happened last Saturday”.
