European justice cancels the aid plan launched during Covid

The justice system of the European Union has a certain talent for the twist, this screenwriting process widely used in cinema which consists of placing a totally unexpected twist at the end of the story. This Wednesday, December 20, the Court of First Instance of the European Union thus annulled the decisions of the European Commission approving the aid that the French State had granted to Air France-KLM to get through the health crisis linked to Covid, in 2020 .

The concrete consequences of this decision are, however, still largely uncertain. The company Ryanair, which is at the origin of the complaint which led to this cancellation, published a press release in which it “welcomes the decisions of the General Court of the European Union”.
