The meeting is in response to questions raised by the tourism industry regarding the slow process of importing labor
The Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev held a working meeting with the Executive Director of the Employment Agency Mr. Smilen Valov, Senior Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, Director of the Main Directorate “Migration” in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, experts from the State National Security Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Employment Agency. The meeting discussed possible solutions to ease the procedure for hiring workers from third countries, reports the Ministry of Tourism.
“In the past days, I held a number of meetings with representatives of the tourism sector, and one of the most common problems they shared was the slow and cumbersome procedure for importing labor from third countries,” said Minister Miloshev. During the discussion, it became clear that the largest number of applications for short-term residence permits in our country and the right to work are received by citizens from Central Asian countries.
The representatives of the institutions pointed out that the examination of the applications is a complex process that takes a lot of time in order to research the applicants. A factor in the slow processing of applications is also the insufficient administrative capacity available to the structures for processing submitted applications.
Among the possible solutions to overcome some of the difficulties created, the experts from the departments point to the adoption of the draft law on amendments and additions to the Law on Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria, which has been submitted to the National Assembly and it is possible to extend the short-term residence visa for up to 3 months without it is necessary for the worker to leave the country. Interstate agreements and the regulation of intermediary companies that hire labor are also among the options where the procedure would be eased.
