Ex-Bahn boss Dr. Rüdiger Grube (71) got caught!
The top manager and husband of star chef Cornelia Poletto (51) sped through a 30 zone in his Mercedes-Benz at 40 km/h – and was flashed. When evaluating the photo, it was noticed that Grube had a mobile phone on his ear. That’s why he got an increased one fine notice (100 euros) plus one point in Flensburg.
But instead of paying, he appealed. The court hearing was on Monday.
Rüdiger Grube is a repeat offender
Grube did not appear in person; a lawyer was supposed to settle the matter for him. She said to the presiding judge: “He drove, that’s conceded. He was on his way to the airport. But he definitely no longer uses his mobile phone while driving. He already has a pre-registration for that.”
And why does Grube hold up a mobile phone in the speed camera photo? The lawyer: “It had landed on the passenger seat, he was about to put it in his pocket.”
Crisis phone call with the ex-Bahn boss
The judge looked at the photo: “Well, I’m not convinced. To me it doesn’t look remotely like putting the phone away.”
The lawyer went out into the courtroom, crisis phone call with Grube!
Result: “He is very angry that he didn’t come because he would have liked to describe and show it, but that’s no use now.”
With that, Grube’s lawyer withdrew his objection.
