It seems that even Steven Knight can’t wait without letting things slip. Between us, the creator of Peaky Blinders didn’t say anything astonishing, other than calling the cast of the film adaptation “breathtaking.”

However, this information was enough to create a frenzy online, especially among the show’s fans who are now experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

As has been known for some time now, Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Tommy Shelby, while Knight emphasized that the other additions to the cast are also very “strong”: “We have announced Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan, and we will make further announcements,” Knight told a BBC reporter at the Royal Television Society conference in London, adding that in his mind he had hoped for the series to be adapted into a book first. The cinema just beat him to it.

The film, which is based on the award-winning series that ran for 6 seasons from 2013 to 2022, is set during World War II and will be produced in collaboration with BBC Film.

The direction is handled by Tom Harper, with Steven Knight, Cillian Murphy, Caryn Mandabach, and Guy Heeley producing together.
