As part of its program of artistic activities, the ICPNA Cultural presents the exhibition ISHAMAEL RANDALL WEEKS: 20 YEARS, under the curatorship of Miguel A. López. The sample will be presented until June 18 at the Espacio Germán Krüger Espantoso at ICPNA Miraflores (Av. Angamos Oeste 160, Miraflores). Visiting hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

ISHAMAEL RANDALL WEEKS: 20 YEARS OLD. We metalize our memories, brings together about seventy works produced by the artist, after his return to the country (2003), which includes drawing, collage, photography, sculpture, video and installation. The details in the sculptures in this exhibition work as anchors to specific social spaces, as well as the geometric shapes that propose a conversation that connects diverse historical spaces and times: from the Bauhaus modernist architecture to the art and symbols of pre-Columbian cultures (design Inca, Chakana or Wari textiles), from Russian constructivism to the production of Peruvian sculptors such as Emilio Rodríguez Larraín and Lika Mutal whose work in stone intersects the aesthetic and the ritual.

“Stress Balances” by IRW.

Although the heart of Randall’s poetics has been dedicated to the investigation of construction processes and their social implications, there is also an intimate and personal search that appears in the representations and materials that he decides to use. Her works delve into the relationship between exteriority and interiority, exhibition and intimacy, between the collective body and the individual body. These seek to understand how all physical structures have an impact on the ways we move, relate affectively, communicate with others, inhabit and dream the world. That is, how our deepest and simplest experiences of everyday life depend on form and functionality.

“This exhibition shows the work of Ishmael Randall who, for more than two decades, has been displaying a complex laboratory of shapes, it is in this way that the eye of a builder and a deep technical skill in doing things with his hands converge in his work, His work is a constant going in and out of architecture, although the starting point is abstract language, his works are charged with reality”, said Miguel A. López, curator of the exhibition. (n.d.).
