Asked how many employees currently work at the Embassy of Latvia in Russia, she indicated that temporary authorized clerk Dace Rutka, counselors Andrejs Grinaško and Antra Margarita Tumane, as well as first secretary Uldis Upelnieks work in the department of political and economic issues.

On the other hand, the head of the department Māra Fritzberga, second secretary – deputy head of the consular department Evija Johansone, second secretary Ieva Tropa, third secretary Svetlana Romanovska, Ligita Gribovska and Henriks Obolevičs work in the Consular Department of the Latvian Embassy in Russia. Eglīte emphasized that the information is updated periodically.

On the other hand, according to the Diplomatic List of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dated April 26 of this year, 21 employees work at the Russian Embassy in Latvia.

As previously confirmed to the LETA agency by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Thursday, April 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia submitted a note to the temporary authorized representative of Latvia regarding the expulsion of two Latvian diplomats.

Eglīte stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will decide on the further course of action in response to Russia’s statement on the expulsion of two Latvian diplomats. The press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that traditionally the names of expelled diplomats are not disclosed.

It has already been written that on March 27, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Krišjānis Kariņš (JV) made a decision to declare a diplomat of the Russian Embassy as a person undesirable to the state.

Oļegs Zikovs, Russia’s temporary charge d’affaires, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 27, to whom a categorical protest from the Latvian side was expressed regarding the unacceptable and provocative public communication carried out by the embassy for a long time, which is in clear contradiction with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Despite repeated reprimands from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Embassy has continued “incorrect public communication aimed at discrediting the institutes and institutions of Latvian state power and inciting hatred in Latvian society”.

Taking this into account, the Minister of Foreign Affairs has included a diplomat in the list of undesirable persons for Latvia, who had to leave Latvia by the end of April 10.
