jpnn.comPEKANBARU – Chancellor of the University of Riau (Unri) Prof Sri Indarti withdrew a police report at the Riau Regional Police against one of his students, Khariq Anhar who criticized the high single tuition fee (UKT) at the famous campus in Bumi Lancang Kuning.

Prof Sri admitted to making a report for the account in the name of the Plaintiff Student Alliance which uploaded the video.

However, he confirmed that he had no intention of criminalizing his own students.

“I do not intend to criminalize my own students, do not stifle freedom of expression, and continue to provide space for criticism, suggestions and input on policies, including Institutional Development (IPI) and Single Tuition Fees (UKT),” he said, Thursday (9/5).

According to Sri, the report was withdrawn because the results of a police investigation showed that the account owner was an Unri student.

Thus, the matter did not proceed to the legal realm and his party has coordinated with the Riau Regional Police.

Furthermore, Sri, through the Deputy Chancellor for Student and Alumni Affairs, has also conveyed to the students concerned that the matter has been resolved and will not be continued.

Regarding education financing at Unri, he believes that his party prioritizes the principle of justice in order to guarantee people’s rights to get the opportunity to obtain a decent education.

The Chancellor of Unri, Prof. Sri Indarti, spoke about the steps taken by the police to take students criticizing the high cost of UKT on campus to the Riau Regional Police.
