Bastian Pastewka Stars in New Prime Video Murder Mystery, “Fabian and the Murderous Wedding”

Prime Video is set to release a new comedic murder mystery, “Fabian and the Murderous Wedding,” starring Bastian Pastewka on Febuary 6th. The film, a continuation of a prosperous collaboration between Pastewka and the streaming giant, promises a blend of suspense, humor, and dark secrets.
A Long-Standing Partnership
The upcoming release builds on a multi-year partnership between Pastewka and amazon Prime Video. Previous projects include the continuation of the series “Pastewka,” appearances on “LOL: Last One Laughing,” and the recent series “Perfectly Missed” featuring Anke Engelke. This consistent collaboration underscores Prime Video’s commitment to working with popular German talent.
The Plot Thickens
“Fabian and the Murderous Wedding” centers around Fabian, a small-time conman portrayed by pastewka, who finds himself unexpectedly embroiled in a murder investigation at a wedding celebration. Originally titled “The Bride Kidnapping,” the film follows Fabian as he attempts to evade authorities and simultaneously unravels the mystery surrounding a corpse discovered on the wedding grounds.According to a company release, the plot revolves around a valuable wedding gift and the secrets hidden beneath the surface of the festivities.
“Fabian is a small-time con artist who makes a living by ripping off greedy people who don’t know what to do with their wealth,” Pastewka stated. “To deceive his counterpart,Fabian works with optical changes,i.e. he takes on roles. Since I was able to take on all sorts of roles as a budding comedian and actor, I’ll go with you here. Beyond that is the script… so wonderfully surprising, funny and original that I absolutely wanted to be there.”
An Ensemble Cast and International Production
The film boasts a large ensemble cast including Tamara Romera Ginés, Anton Dreger, Barbara Philipp, Ercan Durmaz, mira Partecke, Bernhard schütz, Nicole Beutler, Taneshia Abt, Lena Dörrie, Knud Riepen, Marta Kizyma, Daniel Rodic, To Raskopf, Rabea Lüthi, Georg paluza, Sara Bartknecht, Maxim Bartknecht, and Magnus Krepper.
Interestingly, production took place across Latvia and Lithuania, adding an international flavor to the project. Mark Very, known for directing “Murder with a View,” “Saint Michael,” and episodes of “Pastewka,” helmed the film, working from a screenplay penned by Martin Eigler, Lars Neuwöhner, and Sven Poser, with support from Judy Horney. Nataly Kudiabor and Denise Neustadt served as producers, while Leonie Geisinger acted as executive producer. The film is a production of UFA Fiction GmbH (a Fremantle Company) in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios Germany for Prime Video.
