The Fábrica de Arte Cubano, one of the main cultural and recreational spaces in Havana, announced this Wednesday the start of a new season, the first of 2024, but also increases in prices.

As announced on their official Facebook profile, the space will remain open from Thursday to Sunday from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am and the rates will be between 250 and 1,000 pesos.

For university students who carry an FEU card, entry will cost 250 pesos. Residents in Cuba must pay 500 Cuban pesos, and non-residents in Cuba will have to pay one thousand.

Judging by the reactions to the post on that social network, the news was received with some astonishment. In addition, FAC restricted comments on the publication, something unusual for the profile.

There are barely four comments visible at this time and two of them are precisely about the price increase. One of the Internet users pointed out that in addition to raising ticket prices, the drinks are also “at the bar level.”

“That is why they raised it, because people go to bars and pay for it and that is why we pay just for sinners,†another follower responded.

On Instagram the story was no different: the profile, always open to debate, prohibited comments.

Meanwhile, the FAC website to which the Facebook post “for more information†redirects, is under maintenance, hence the difficulty in finding out more details.

At the time of its founding 10 years ago, entry to FAC cost 50 pesos and with the passage of time, it increased, as prices have increased for all goods, services and products on the island.

During those 10 years, Fábrica de Arte has been one of the flagship spaces for the cultivation of the most diverse artistic and cultural manifestations in Cuba and has obtained numerous national and international recognitions for the public’s preference, for its varied programming and for hosting essential events such as the Jazz Plaza International Festival, among others.
