Gamers will soon experience Far Cry 3: Classic Edition with a smoother, faster frame rate.
Rook Islands Get a Refresh: 60FPS Coming too Far Cry 3
Ubisoft announced that fans can revisit the visually stunning Rook Islands with a performance boost to 60 frames per second. Imagine the turquoise water looking even clearer, the golden sand shimmering, and the threat of pirates feeling more immediate than ever.
The update arrives January 21 for current-generation consoles. But the improvements don’t stop there. Last week, Ubisoft teased that far Cry 3: Classic edition, Far Cry 3: Blood dragon Classic, and Far Cry Primal are all slated to receive the 60fps treatment.
The studio hinted at the updates with a series of emojis – a palm tree, a dragon, and an hourglass – on social media. When a user predicted “Far Cry 3 60 FPS, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon 60 FPS, Far Cry Primal 60 FPS,” Ubisoft responded with a gif awarding a gold star, all but confirming the upgrades are coming.
For those who haven’t experienced it,Far Cry 3 is a must-play. While its antagonist is undeniably awful, Vaas is a standout character. The Rook Islands are antagonistic, but undeniably gorgeous.
“In the past, far Cry’s vision of a first-person shooter RPG were you explore, master and then control your environment has always been more seductive on paper than any of its developers have managed to deliver on disc. Far Cry 3 changes all that. For me, this is the new apex predator of open-world shooters,” reads a review from earlier coverage.
“Hunt it down as soon as you can.”
Elsewhere, Ubisoft is fueling speculation about an Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake. Earlier this month, the studio reuploaded a collection of sea shanties from Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag to its YouTube music channel, prompting many to believe a remake is in development. the studio claimed the reupload was due to “technical issues,” a claim met with skepticism.
