Thanks to two films, the first work Diva e Betty Blue in which you launched Jean-Hugues Anglade and Batrice Dalle, who was the leading name of French cinema in the Eighties together with Luc Besson: they called them both B’s. Jean-Jacques Beineix, writer, screenwriter, director and producer with his Cargo Film, died on January 14 in Paris at the age of 75, after a long illness. The second film, The mirror of desire, who wanted to shoot in Cinecitt, with Grard Depardieu and Nastassja Kinski, was a flop, but Betty Blue made him a cult director. His career is fluctuating. In 1992 he offered the last role to Yves Montand, in IP5 – The island of pachyderms, the actor died at the end of filming, shortly before the release of the film. He had long since moved away from the cinema, after the thriller Deadly Transfer of 2001 and some documentaries for TV, he devoted himself to theater and, above all, to writing. In 2020 he published the last book, the novel Toboggan. I have not abandoned creation. that’s why I turned to literature, he explained. To pay homage to him, via Istagram, was his muse, Batrice Dalle: Zorg and Betty are orphans. Some of the best pages of my life come from that movie. I love you.
