We share in full the message published by the Frente Amplio, on the occasion of the death of the party’s co-founder, Danilo Astori.
The former vice president, former Minister of Economy and former senator died this Friday.
Danilo was an example of commitment, of consistent militancy, a comrade committed to the causes of the weakest, with the most precious ideals of freedom, justice and democracy.
Full professor grade 5, dean of the Faculty of Economics in two terms, outstanding and recognized teacher, Deputy, Senator, Minister, Vice President of the Republic, he dedicated his life to the public cause.
Without a doubt, his departure means a great loss for all of our beloved Frente Amplio but also, without a doubt, for all of Uruguay, of whom he was one of the fundamental pillars in the construction of our half century of unity and the transformations in the country.
This political force has not only lost a first-line political leader, but has lost a great colleague and friend.
