Made in Upper Hesse: The Galfe siblings make fashion with fine fabrics from the region, including brocade from Schwalm and Schlitzer linen. The result is the opposite of fast fashion.
Dhe woman with the neon red hair and her colleague with a beard and beanie are bending over their tailoring tables. With concentration and care, Nadja Bach and Sven Weber each use their fingers to guide a large piece of fabric to the needle of the sewing machine. Bringing your new designs into shape means precision work by your own hands. In front of them is a tailor’s dummy. Attached to it is what to the layman looks like an oversized tie with sleeves and back. “It becomes a coat,” says Frank Galfe. And adds: “Sure, right?” The coat comes with a belt that goes through a tunnel in the fabric. One of the specialties of the house. “Without a clasp, which is annoying,” says Galfe.
The tall businessman runs the business together with his sister Juliane, a tailor and fashion designer. Not in Düsseldorf, not in Berlin, not in Frankfurt. But in Alsfeld. In “Hessian Tuscany”, as the entrepreneurial duo affectionately calls their homeland. They operate under the Galfe siblings.
