Fatal Car Accident Closes E6 Highway in Nordland County
A tragic collision on the E6 highway near Laksfors in Grane, Nordland County, Norway, has resulted in one confirmed fatality. Authorities were alerted to the incident at 11:39 PM local time on Wednesday evening, and have since notified the victim’s next of kin.
Investigation Underway, Cause Unknown
The Nordland police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, with assistance from the National Road Administration’s accident investigation team. While the investigation is in its early stages, authorities have stated they do not suspect drug-impaired driving as a contributing factor.
Work continues at the scene, and the E6 highway remains closed to traffic. This closure is expected to cause significant disruption for travelers in the region.
According to a senior official at the scene, the accident involved a car and a trailer traveling south on the E6. “It may look like the car came out of the intersection to Laksfors and onto the E6, but we don’t know that,” the official stated.
The driver of the trailer was evaluated by health personnel and thankfully sustained no physical injuries. The driver of the car was traveling alone at the time of the incident.
The incident leader described the scene as “serious” when speaking with local media outlet Helgelendingen on Wednesday evening.
