Garon Maia and 12-year-old son died in plane crash
Two people died after the crash of a small plane on the border between Rondônia and Mato Grosso. The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon (29), but the wreckage of the aircraft, as well as the bodies, were found on Sunday (30).
Those of the people who were on board the Beechcraft Baron 58 plane died: Garon Maia, cattleman and pilot of the aircraft, and his 12-year-old son. People close to Garon said he had a lot of experience flying small planes.
The plane disappeared from radars about five minutes after taking off from Vilhena airport, in Rondônia, around 5:50 pm. The trip would be short and the forecast was to last only 15 minutes.
The destination would be the Jaqueline farm, owned by the family. Garon was even part of an important family in the Brazilian livestock sector, whose patriarch was Garon Braulino Maia, who died in 2009.
The searches were started on Saturday, but the local Fire Department and residents of the region were unsuccessful. On Sunday morning, however, the military managed to enter the dense forest and identified the plane’s wreckage and the fatal victims.
