The baby’s father murdered pregnant in Campos dos Goytacazes, in the interior of the state of Rio, he is suspected of being involved in the crime, according to the police. The shooter and the partner who participated in the shooting attack against Letycia Peixoto Fonseca, 31, were arrested.
In a press conference, police chief Natália Patrão, responsible for the investigation, pointed out that there is no evidence against the man identified as the father of the child, but, as a precaution, his passport was withdrawn by the Justice, at the request of the investigators.
According to the police investigation, the man denied being the author or order of Letycia’s murder and said he did not know those arrested for the crime.
The delegate also informed that the baby’s father refused to provide the genetic material for any DNA test. He was married to another woman, who said in a statement that she was not aware of the suspect’s relationship with the victim.
Last Thursday (2), Letycia, who was in her eighth month of pregnancy, was murdered at her doorstep. Two men on a motorcycle approached the victim’s car and fired at least four shots at her. The criminals also shot Letycia’s mother before fleeing.
The pregnant woman was rescued and taken to the hospital. She underwent an emergency delivery and died soon after. O baby also passed awayhours after birth, due to respiratory failure and cardiovascular disorder.
The pair already identified by the police must answer for homicide, attempted homicide and abortion, according to the delegate responsible for the case.
