FC Bayern is still looking for a new head coach. Hansi Flick is considered a serious candidate. But there was obviously big-name competition.

According to a report from the TV channel Sky, FC Bayern also had Oliver Glasner in mind. The Austrian is currently head coach of the English first division club Crystal Palace. Glasner has a close relationship with Bayern sports director Christoph Freund. According to Sky, there were even initial discussions.

However, Crystal Palace are said to have shown little interest in letting Glasner move as he led the team to mid-table when he took over in February. Due to the lack of approval, the discussions did not become more concrete. Palace have even won four of the last five games. This Saturday there was a 3-1 win in Wolverhampton. Glasner’s team had also beaten Liverpool and Manchester United.

The 49-year-old is well known to Bundesliga fans because he led VfL Wolfsburg into the Champions League and won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt. In the summer of 2023, Eintracht and Glasner parted ways. After several months without a club, we went to England.
