Bayern Munich, Germany’s record champion, is on the verge of acquiring a second stadium, according to data obtained by BILD on October 27, 2025. the move signals a significant investment in the club’s infrastructure and a clear ambition to accommodate growing fan demand, particularly for it’s women’s team.
As 2005, the Allianz Arena has served as the home ground for the men’s first team. In 2017, the club expanded its facilities with the opening of the bayern-Campus, dedicated to youth growth and hosting matches for the women’s team. However, the Bayern-Campus currently has a limited capacity of only 2,500 spectators.
Addressing Capacity Concerns & Rising Popularity
The limited seating at the Bayern-Campus is proving insufficient to meet the increasing popularity of the women’s team. Top-tier matches relocated to the Allianz Arena have recently drawn record crowds, exceeding 50,000 attendees. This surge in viewership underscores the need for a more substantial venue dedicated to women’s football and perhaps other club activities.
“This is about providing the right habitat for our growing ambitions,” stated a senior club official. “The success of the women’s team demands a stadium that reflects their status and allows more fans to experience the excitement firsthand.”
Haching’s Sportpark: A Prime Target
the focus has turned to the Uhlsportpark, home to Regionalliga side Unterhaching. Valued at approximately €7.5 million, negotiations are reportedly well underway, with Bayern Munich considered the frontrunner in the acquisition. The Sportpark, which hosted Haching in the Bundesliga from 1999 to 2002, currently boasts a capacity of 15,000.
Haching President Manni Schwabl had previously attempted to secure a deal with the city for the Sportpark, but those efforts were unsuccessful, and his purchase deadline has now passed. A long-standing friendship between Bayern Munich executive Uli Hoeneß and Schwabl may have facilitated the current negotiations.
Future of Unterhaching & Potential Synergies
Despite the potential sale, Unterhaching is not expected to be displaced. The clubs have established a cooperative agreement in the youth development sector, and it is anticipated that Haching could remain as a tenant at the Sportpark.
This arrangement could foster a mutually beneficial relationship, allowing Bayern Munich to expand its footprint while ensuring Unterhaching maintains a home ground.
Why is Bayern Munich pursuing this acquisition? the club is responding to the rapidly growing popularity of its women’s team and the insufficient capacity of the Bayern-Campus. Relocating women’s matches to the Allianz Arena has proven successful in attracting large crowds, but a dedicated venue is deemed necessary to consistently accommodate the demand and provide a fitting home for the team.
Who are the key players involved? Bayern Munich is the primary buyer, with Unterhaching as the seller. Key individuals include bayern Munich executives
