BOLZANO. Avni Mecja, the accused who confessed at the trial for the femicide of Alexandra Elena Mocanu, killed with a hammer in her home in Viale Trieste in Bolzano on the evening of 22 October 2022, was sentenced to 24 years in prison. The mitigating circumstances equivalent to the aggravating.

You will also have to pay 320 thousand euros in compensation to the son and five thousand to the victim’s husband. The sentence was issued by the Assize Court of Bolzano.

The judges considered the aggravating factors (cohabitation and the previous conviction for stalking) equivalent to the mitigating factors (the confession and collaboration with the investigators) and ordered compensation of 320 thousand euros in favor of the victim’s son and 5 to the husband from whom she had separated.

For the defense lawyer, Massimo Dal Benit is a “balanced” sentence. The fact that the mitigating factors were considered equivalent and not prevalent compared to the aggravating factors will be one of the probable grounds for appeal”.

But first we await the reasons, expected in 90 days. Satisfied too Gianmarco Tosettocivil party lawyer (for Mocanu’s husband and son): “What we wanted was for Alexandra’s determination to emerge in thinking about her son and in never sparing herself, not even at work, in order to be able to send him money”.
