Fenerbahçe, one of the biggest teams in Europe, announced, this Monday morning, the signing of Arturs Zagars, a young Latvian academy player, who was one of the biggest surprises of the last 2023 World Cup.
Through an official statement, the Turkish team announced that they had reached an agreement with the 23-year-old base player to sign a contract valid for three seasons, highlighting, however, that he will not remain in the squad for now.
According to the same note, the Latvian international will be loaned to Lithuanian side BC Wolves, who will play in the EuroCup, the second biggest competition for European clubs, this season, continuing in the same championship where he was last season, but playing for BC Nevezis.
Artur Zagars was one of Latvia’s standard bearers, the biggest surprise of the last 2023 World Cup, even breaking the record for assists in a single game of the competition, with 17, in the victory by 98-63against Lithuania, which dictated 5th place in the competition for Latvia.
