Difficulties that are poorly assumed, not faced or resolved, overshadow transcendent values; and there is a risk of forgetting what is fundamental. Let’s change direction! Let us keep in mind that the family is a sign of the ‘dialogue’ between God and man and, therefore, its members – parents and children – must always be open to the encounter with the one who sustains family life: God. This openness must also be lived with the Word of God and with what the Church teaches regarding marriage and family. It is about knowing how to listen to others, and respecting their freedom. Family prayer can never be dispensed with, because it seals and strengthens the bond between members.
Saint John Paul II – the great promoter of World Family Days – highly recommended praying the Holy Rosary as a family, and constantly repeated a phrase that should be a motto for everyone and a goal at the same time: “A family that prays together, remains united.”
