Feyenoord Rotterdam called on their supporters to calm down on Thursday ahead of the Europa League Conference semi-final first leg against Olympique de Marseille, the Dutch club having been fined by UEFA again due to incidents during the quarter of final. “The fine of 70,125 euros is the tenth sanction of this European season and means that UEFA have already imposed a total of half a million euros in fines on Feyenoord“said the Rotterdam club in a press release.

«With the approach of the matches against Olympique de Marseille on April 28 and May 5, the club is therefore sending an urgent request to its supporters to prevent Feyenoord from receiving even more fines.“, he added. The club stressed that they were still under a suspended sanction of a European away game without an audience and that further disruption could lead to even higher fines and heavier penalties from UEFA.

The fine of 70,125 euros, the latest, was imposed on the club after the home match against Slavia Prague on April 7 for lighting smoke bombs, throwing projectiles and blocking stairs, the club said. The first leg against Marseille is due to be played on Thursday April 28 in the Netherlands and the return match on Thursday May 5 at the Vélodrome.

UEFA also decided on Tuesday to close the North corner of the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille during the semi-final second leg against Feyenoord Rotterdam, as a penalty for incidents between supporters during the OM-PAOK Salonika match in the quarter-finals.
