FGV awards the surveillance services for Metrovalencia and Alicante Tram

The new contract improves the conditions of the current one, by increasing the surveillance hours provided in Valencia and Alicante

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana has awarded the new surveillance and protection services for the Metrovalencia and Alicante Tram networks. The budget of the contract awarded to Garda Servicios de Seguridad SA amounts to 18 million euros and covers 2023, from this same month of May, and 2024. In turn, the contract includes a possible one-year extension.

The contract is divided into four lots, of which two include the surveillance of complexes, common services, trains and trams of the Alicante Tram and Metrovalencia; and two other lots correspond to the Metrovalencia metro and tram lines.

With respect to the previous contract, the surveillance service on the Alicante Tram has increased, including the entire line 9 to Denia, in service since January 2023. Other needs have also been taken into account, with an increase in security services. surveillance to be carried out on the entire network.

In Valencia, the new contract incorporates the new line 10, and increased surveillance at the FGV facilities in Valncia Sud, where the central offices and part of the Metrovalencia workshops are located. In addition, an increase in service hours has been included with respect to the current contract, both on the metro and tram lines.

Underground stations and surface sections

With this surveillance service, coverage is provided to all FGV lines in Valencia and Alicante, both in underground stations and in surface sections. In addition, reinforcements are contemplated in special events and circumstances.

Among the tasks of the personnel assigned to these tasks within the provisions of the Private Security Law, are those of enforcing FGV’s internal regulations on security and what is established in the law of the railway sector; detect any circumstance that may cause a situation of insecurity and act accordingly; and prevent any event that is detrimental to the interests of users, employees and facilities, always with the support of the State Security Forces and Corps.

The new surveillance service includes as priority actions, among other actions, giving special attention to people with functional diversity, and to those with any accessibility problem.
