The Knesset plenum approved yesterday (Monday) the Labor Minister’s bill Yoav ben Tzur which prohibits the dismissal of employees who have been evacuated or vacated their homes in accordance with the government’s decisions, and also protects prisoners, abductees and missing persons and their family members from dismissal.

Also, as part of the law, an amendment was made to the National Insurance Law according to which provisions will continue to be made to the provident fund of missing persons or abductees in order to maintain their pension rights funded and indemnified by the state.

The law will apply as an interim order for three months, and will apply retroactively starting on October 7.

Minister of Labor Yoav Ben Tzur: “In routine and emergency situations, the Ministry of Labor protects the status of workers in Israel.” This is our moral duty. These days we are working by all means to ensure maximum protection for the rights of the evacuees from the south and the north, the members of the families of the captives, the missing and the bereaved families. The Ministry of Labor will continue to act on all fronts to maintain the continuity of the economy’s operation while fully maintaining the workers’ welfare.’
