Shirak Buniatyan, an activist fighting against the exploitation of Amulsar, informed on his Facebook page today that the police searched the houses of three residents of Jermuk community, they were detained and taken to Yerevan.

Let’s remind: a few days ago, there was a clash between the residents of the neighboring communities of Amulsar and the guardians of Amulsar on the issue of mine exploitation.

A resident of Gndevaz community in a conversation with Aysor.am reporter Anna Nersisyan said that, according to everything, it was as a result of that collision that people were detained.

“Finally, we notice that the law is being restored in the community. For two years, those people have been speaking on behalf of the community, they do not represent the community. For two years, an atmosphere of fear and despair prevailed here. The people who spoke in favor of the exploitation of the mine were regularly subjected to violence, there was a continuous fight,” said Anna Nersisyan.

According to the resident of Gndevaz, the community welcomes that after two years, after all, the law is restored.

“It is natural that if there were searches and people were detained, then there is something real under it. A few days ago, there was a big clash between workers and activists of Amulsar mine. The employees of the mine received injuries, and based on that, people were detained. The community also welcomes that the atmosphere of fear that has lasted for two years will finally pass. I think that the establishment of order will be continuous by the police,” said Anna Nersisyan.

He mentioned that they regularly tried to present their problems, but for some reason, their voice was not heard.

“The community expects the state to restore the law, order, rule, not to be “bespredel”, people not to do whatever they want. We want our right to work legally, we don’t want money to support our family, we don’t say to the state: come fix our family issues, we want our right to work, because, I repeat, for two years, the residents of this community have been illegally deprived from their work”, Nersisiyan mentioned, adding. “As a resident of the community, I would urge the state bodies, the deputies coming here, when posters come and encourage illegality, go up to Gorayk, Gndevaz, Jermuk, Sarava and listen to the voice of the real community.”

Member of the “Amulsar mine” initiative group, resident of Gndevaz community Narek Hovhannisyan In a conversation with Aysor.am, he said that the clash took place between the residents of the community and a group of protesters.

“The residents of the community were our employees, their relatives and friends. The only problem was that they are people working in Amulsar. That group tries in every possible way to terrorize and oppress people working in Amulsar. After the collision, the police searched the citizens’ apartments. Demonstrators attacked the employees of Amulsar with various tools, tried to injure them with cold weapons. Now there are people among our employees whose condition is not good. And those who were detained, most of them are the protesters who caused injuries to the residents of the neighboring communities of Amulsar.

He said that during the past two years, the police did not follow what was happening in the area.

“It’s not like the police were paying close attention to what was happening in the area during these two years, because there were still clashes and they turned a blind eye to it. We just want the restoration of the law, it is a difficult social situation, bad economic consequences left over from the coronavirus. Everything has been added together and a situation has been created when there is no other alternative to the development of the country but work. “Lidian” company has already involved more than 100 employees from the communities, they are currently working in the area of Amulsar. In the future, they will double, quadruple, tenfold. At the moment, inventory and interior finishing works are underway, later, when the team grows, they will start working with equipment,” said Narek Hovhannisyan.

It should be noted that Shirak Buniatyan announced today that three arrested residents of Jermuk community will be charged in Yerevan.

“In our opinion, it is discriminatory when three young people from Jermuk community were arrested as a result of a fight in Gndevaz village about a year ago. In our opinion, it is discriminatory when Lidian’s guards beat a resident of Jermuk and the policeman who came to his aid with several dozen people, and this has not received an adequate legal evaluation. In our opinion, it is discriminatory when they say that a fight took place the other day, but supporters of the rescue of Amulsar were arrested and taken to Yerevan,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Buniatyan informed that today they will go out with their families to the Jermuk taxi stand and show support to the detained citizens.
