/ Finnish musicians and artists signed a petition to exclude Israel from the countries participating in the “Eurovision 2024” competition due to “war crimes” committed in the Gaza Strip.

Activist Lukas Korpilainen, one of the authors of this petition, published its link on his page on the social networking site “Instagram,” and so far it includes the signatures of more than 1,400 artists and representatives of the music industry.

The petition was titled: “A message from music industry professionals to Yle (Finnish Broadcasting Corporation): Boycott Israel at Eurovision!”

The participating musicians expressed their opinion that if the competition’s official organizer, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), refuses to exclude Israelis, then Yle should withdraw its competition and boycott the competition.

The protesters plan to collect signatures until January 15, after which this petition will be handed over to the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation.

The Eurovision 2024 competition will also be held in Malmo, Sweden, next May of this year, and the country obtained the rights to host the competition after singer Lauren won the competition last year.

The war in the Gaza Strip entered its 97th day on Thursday, as military operations and clashes continue on various fronts, while a historic trial of Israel on charges of genocide in Gaza began today before the International Court of Justice.

Officials at the Israeli Ministry of Justice said that the International Court of Justice can issue injunctions against Israel, but it will not order a halt to the war in the Gaza Strip.

The “genocide” lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel is considered historic, as South Africa sent a number of its most prominent lawyers to The Hague for a legal confrontation in the International Court of Justice, to force Israel to stop its bloody attack on the Gaza Strip, which left about 30,000 dead and missing and hundreds of others missing. Thousands of wounded and displaced.
