Bucharest: The first rescue plane with people stranded in Ukraine has returned to Mumbai. There are more than 30 Malayalees on the flight back from Romania. The flight will reach Mumbai at midnight. The first group arrived at the airport in Bucharest, Romania at around 9.30 am Indian time. Embassy officials distributed food and water to them. Union Minister Piyush Goyal will arrive in Mumbai to receive the first delegation. Meanwhile, a second plane returned to Romania for a rescue mission.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the state government will provide air tickets to Kerala for students arriving in Delhi and Mumbai on evacuation flights prepared by the central government from Ukraine. The CM said that steps have been taken to make the details of Malayalees arriving in India available in advance and that steps will be taken by the Resident Commissioner and NORKA officials to facilitate the journey home by accepting students arriving at the airport. The Chief Minister said that the District Collectors have been directed to receive the students arriving at the airports in Kerala and prepare the necessary facilities. Earlier, NORKA had said that returnees from Ukraine would be brought to Kerala from Delhi free of cost.
Meanwhile, Kerala House will provide accommodation, food and travel facilities for Malayalees returning from Ukraine. The center of Kerala House will be opened at the Delhi Airport. According to preliminary information, 17 Malayalees will arrive in Delhi from Romania today. The number of Malayalees arriving in Delhi is likely to increase. RTPCR test free for students arriving in Mumbai via Romania. Accommodation, meals and travel facilities up to Kerala House have been arranged at Mumbai Kerala House for Malayalees arriving in Mumbai. Preparations were made by NORKA and the Department of Tourism.
