Women Dominate Blood Donor Association Lottery, Boosts Community Spirit
A remarkable showing by women marked the Blood Donor Association’s lottery on Sunday, December 7, with female participants claiming the majority of top prizes. The lottery, a revived tradition following a pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, drew approximately 100 participants from Poisson and neighboring communities, celebrating the vital contributions of blood donors and fostering local connections.
Lottery Results Highlight Community Engagement
The lottery awarded a variety of prizes, demonstrating the association’s commitment to recognizing donor generosity. Romane Beauchamp of Poisson was a grand prize winner, securing a travel voucher from Cars Michel, a voucher for the local Cognard bakery, and a generously filled gift basket. Chantal Polette from Bourbon-Lancy also enjoyed significant success, winning two vouchers and a rosette.
Other winners included Anne-Marie Slepowronski from Charolles, who received two restaurant vouchers redeemable in Poisson and L’Hôpital-le-Mercier, and Mrs. Loreau and Mrs. Girard from St-Aubin-en-Charollais, who were awarded hams and rosettes.
“We are thrilled with the enthusiastic response to the lottery’s return,” stated a representative of the association. “It’s a wonderful way to show our appreciation to our dedicated donors.”
Resumption of Lottery Signals Positive Outlook
The lottery’s successful resumption after a hiatus signifies a positive trend in community engagement and donor participation. The association conducted four blood collections throughout 2024, and is already looking ahead to the new year.
Donors are encouraged to mark their calendars for the next collection scheduled for February 13, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Blood Donor Association plays a critical role in maintaining a stable blood supply for the region, and continued donor support is essential.
The event underscores the importance of community-based initiatives in bolstering public health and fostering a spirit of giving.
