Five elements of the capital Police were arrested after forcibly entering the home of Karen Quirogacandidate for the Iztapalapa Mayor’s Office for the Va x CDMX coalition, reported the head of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), Pablo Vázquez Camacho.

The capital official announced that the agents, belonging to the Undersecretariat of Police Operations, were at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City to determine if they violated the action protocols and committed any abuse.

However, he stressed that the capital Police have not and will not intervene in the ongoing electoral process, for the benefit or detriment of any candidate.

The police intervention occurred after the homicide of a man in the Colonia Lomas de San Lorenzo. The agents, upon arriving at the scene, found a man with serious injuries who eventually died in the hospital.

During the mobilization, a relative of the victim told the police that the attackers had taken refuge in the political candidate’s home, which led to their entry.

The Police Chief clarified that the intervention was not politically motivated and that it was carried out due to the risk it represented for the security of the area.

One of the alleged attackers was captured in the Tláhuac Mayor’s Office after a search operation.

In a press conference, Vázquez Camacho said that SSC members who were carrying out preventive patrols in the area were alerted, via C2, about a person injured by gunshots at the intersection of the streets on the way to Santa Cruz and closed Santa Cruz. , so they immediately went to the scene.

When they arrived at the scene they located a man with blood stains, so they requested emergency services. An ambulance from the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Squadron arrived at the site.

However, relatives of the injured man had already boarded him in a vehicle to take him to a hospital, where the man later died.

The victim’s wife stated that, upon finding herself outside her grocery business, two individuals on a red and black motorcycle, without saying a word, shot her spouse and fled down the street on the Santa Cruz road heading east.

A work team from the Ministry of Citizen Security began the chase immediately, said Vázquez Camacho.

It was then that one of the victim’s brothers pointed out an address where the people involved had allegedly entered carrying firearms, the secretary noted.

“Given the possible commission of a criminal act and the imminent risk that this situation could represent for the integrity and life of the residents of the area, the officers entered the property, together with the victim’s family member who had pointed it out. to carry out an inspection,” said the official.

However, the alleged perpetrators were not at the scene, added Vázquez Camacho, who pointed out that during the inspection no person was injured nor was any damage caused to the place.

He mentioned that the police raid caused justified annoyance to the people who were inside the property, who reported the incident on social networks and requested the presentation of the uniformed officers.

Vázquez Camacho commented that personnel from the general directorate of internal affairs of the Secretariat of Citizen Security went to the scene, who became aware of the event and began the corresponding investigation folder.

He assured that he also provided guidance and support to the affected party to file a complaint with the Public Ministry.

“Meanwhile, five police officers from the undersecretariat of police operations who participated in the incident were presented before the ministerial authorities to give their statement for their actions and define responsibilities, in accordance with the police action protocols and current regulations,” he highlighted.

Meanwhile, SSC officers detained one of the alleged aggressors at the Tláhuac Mayor’s Office, who was presented to the Public Ministry agent.

“Our agency is in charge of the security of the inhabitants of Mexico City, and does not have and has not had any intervention in the electoral processes that are carried out in the city and its 16 mayoralties,” said the secretary.

“The Mexico City police have not acted for the benefit or detriment of any candidate participating in said process. The events reported above are no exception; there was no political motivation whatsoever.”
